Trump on Hannity, “I won that debate no need to do anymore”.

Last night I awakened at 3 am to watch the debate. It was not until I saw Trump on Hannity after he left the spin room getting kudos did I think anything but Kamala beat the crap out of him. When his pal asked him if he would debate again, he said “I won that debate no need to do anymore”. It was breathtaking to hear him say and believe that.

While I watched the debate there was something that she did that I thought she might have done better. But in rethinking it I was wrong. When Trump went on and on about the millions of people, the millions of supporters, the billions of people who were coming into our country to eat our pets, I wished she had asked him for sources for that information. Well of course he doesn’t have any but I just wanted her to rattle him a little more. But his face reflected the contempt he had for her. Like a four year old whose been caught in a lie. What he doesn’t get is that you can’t be a rich kid bragging about your billions and billions of financial assets and at the same time say you understand the plight of the middle class.

Really what he doesn’t get is anything. The people who support him can’t possibly believe the the billons of immigrants who are among other atrocities are eating our pets. If they are thrives they can probably steal food. If it weren’t so ludicrous you would be tempted to laugh at it. But this old man may be once again our next President.

Today we are in Menorca which is a lovely Little island, off the coast of Spain. The town is a treasure with lots of fun shopping. How is it that I have never heard of it. Maybe I have heard of it but I forgot! Where have we been and where are went going. A question for the ages. All the reports about the debate were favorable toward Kamala. Except on Fox and Trump was there so Hannity was with him seriously sucking up. During the debate Trump went after Joe Biden because he didn’t know what else to do. It was a pitiful attempt to make himself better than someone. Anyone. It surprised me that Kamala didn’t go after Trump on that but again, it was more powerful to be able to say you’re debating me not Joe Biden.

This morning the ship stopped suddenly because right there in the middle of the sea was an empty row boat just drifting along. The captain came on to talk about boat protocol. He indicated that it was probably used for drug smuggling or even pirates, but it could have been immigrants who probably died in the sea before they had a chance to eat any of our pets. It was too bad there were no police or fire boats, the light and sirens are always an additional treat.

It is our 13 day at sea, almost the end of this amazing journey. I guess I’ll have to start to pack. Boo hoo.

So Here We Go: "So You Think You Can Be President? Who Doesn't?"

So You Think You Can Be President, Who Doesn’t? Since this is the first blog on my new site, people have suggested that I write about my vision of my new book, "So You Think You Can be President, Who Doesn’t." Unlike our first book, my writing partner and friend Clay Greager, who passed away last October, wouldn’t like that. He would say, hey girl, move on! Truth is it isn’t easy without Clay. This book is a bit different; still political humor, but times have changed so much that there is a whole lot more.material. But Clay is in my head and with that.... Welcome to my new blog. It will be filled with great stories as well as commentary on the state of politics today. In 1963, while still in high school, a friend of mine asked a few of us if we would like to go to West Point as dates for some of the Cadets who were having a formal dance. Always being up for an adventure, I said, of course. There were four of us who agreed to do this. It was a Friday afternoon and the ga...

YOUR LAST FLIGHT OUT

Key West is a place that can only be explained by the people who live there. It is sometimes a state of mind filled with junk stores, good food and lots of colorful people. It is all those things, but so much more, you could write a book about it. Which brings me to another book, which I wrote with Clay Greager, one of those colorful people. When I met Clay he owned a t-shirt shop on one of main streets in Key West. It was called “Last Flight Out" and there was lots of Vietnam and airplane stuff in the window. There was no way I could stay outside, so I went in. There were people milling around and I noticed that the owner was telling interesting and insightful stories. There were no chairs, so I sat down in the corner where I listened to Clay’s stories, and took some political calls - probably from candidates or their staff people. What I didn’t realize was that Clay was listening to my call at the same time I was listening to his stories. When all the customers were gone he turn...

Chickens? Ducks? It's Politics All Over Again ...from Iris

It was 1992, the beginning of the Bill Clinton Presidential campaign. The Clinton campaign was going to tell the public why they should vote for Clinton. Our operation was to send a message about why they should not vote for Bush. With that in mind, It’s time to tell the truth and take credit for one of the great political campaign contributions. Not money -   ingenuity. Was it done by one person? Hardly. It was my idea but to carry it out took a team effort. The beauty of the idea was that no one really knew where it came from, and where it went. We wanted to send a message ( by my definition a message need not have any audience participation, whereas a protest requires active participation, and can be messy.)     Ron Brown, then the amazing DNC Chairman (there hasn’t been another since, and probably will not ever be) was responsible for the funding, but no one knew even that.   President Bush41 had said he wouldn't debate Governor Clinton in the General, and...
